Choo Shin-soo shoots 50 kilograms of beef at Busan High… Alumni ‘thrilled’ with Golden Lion’s first win

On March 30, Busan High School, a nationally recognized baseball program, lifted the Golden Lion National High School Championship trophy after 76 years since its founding in 1947. Busan High School has reached the top three times in the Blue Dragon Games, four times in the Phoenix Games, and six times in the Presidential Games, but has only finished runner-up in the Golden Lion Games four times without winning.

As the news broke, Busan High alumni cheered. A representative is baseball player Choo Shin-soo (SSG), who graduated from Busan High School in 2001. He congratulated the baseball team over the phone and donated 50 kilograms of beef to the team.

“The beef is scheduled to arrive on the 8th,” said Park Kye-won, head coach of the baseball team at Busan High School. “Other alumni, Representative Ahn Cheol-soo,스포츠토토 came to the stadium to watch the tournament, and players Son As-seop, Kim Tae-gun, and Park Han-yi also left congratulatory messages via phone.” “The local community has also been reaching out to us to feed the players. We plan to have dinner at the buffet two to three times a week,” he laughed.

Choo’s love for his alma mater is no secret. In 2021, he donated a total of 600 million won to Busan High School in Busan, a swimming school he graduated from, of which 300 million won went to Busan High School. The school used the donation to install baseball field lighting and build an indoor training center. The training center was named ‘Choo Shin-soo-gwan,’ and whenever it rains, players from the neighboring Busan Middle School baseball team also train indoors here.

“Thanks to Chu Shin-soo, the players were able to train normally without experiencing weather problems such as heat waves and rainy seasons,” Park said. Busan High players also said that the alumni’s generous support was a great help. Won Sang-hyun said, “Thanks to Shin-soo Choo, we were able to train in a good environment for three years of high school.” “Son As-seop also generously provided us with equipment such as gloves and bats, so we were able to win this tournament,” he added.
