Fantastic dribbling goal → Happy ending…Moura scores first league goal + 20th EPL goal in ‘final + farewell’ game

Lucas Moura scored his first league goal of the season in his final game and Tottenham Hotspur farewell, the 20th of his career.

Tottenham defeated Leeds United 4-1 in the 38th round of the 2022-23 English Premier League (EPL) season at 0:30 a.m. ET on Sept. 29 at Elland Road in Leeds, England. Tottenham picked up three points, but finished the season in eighth place in the final standings with 60 points.

Spurs needed a win that day, and if Aston 메이저놀이터 Villa didn’t catch Brighton, Spurs could move up to seventh place. Seventh place in the league qualifies for the UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL), so it was important to finish the season as high as possible.

Fortunately, Tottenham came away with all three points in a convincing win over Leeds. The first goal came in the second minute of the first half. Harry Kane rattled the net after receiving a pass from Son Heung-min. The first half ended 1-0. Two minutes into the second half, a second goal came. Pedro Foro finished with a sharp right-footed shot from a ball that Kane saved.

Tottenham pulled one back in the second half through Jack Harrison in the 22nd minute, only to have Kane’s goal wasted two minutes later. Spurs then utilized their substitutions to give younger players a chance, with Moura, who will leave Spurs at the end of the season, coming on as a late substitute in stoppage time.

Moura’s goal would prove crucial. In the fourth minute of stoppage time, Moura collected the ball near the halfway line and began a solo sprint. He managed to beat four defenders before finishing his shot for the winner. After Moura’s goal, even the players on the bench, including Son Heung-min, ran over to celebrate.

Moura’s goal gave Tottenham a 4-1 victory. However, they were unable to fulfill their goal of qualifying for the UECL as Aston Villa held off Brighton. While the result was disappointing, it meant a lot to Moura to score his first league goal in the final game of the season and his farewell game for Tottenham.

Moura joined Tottenham from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in January 2018 and had a breakout 2018-19 season, scoring 10 goals and providing one assist in 32 EPL games, including a hat trick against Ajax in the UEFA Champions League semifinal second leg. Moura’s performance helped Tottenham reach their first UCL final in club history.

However, he has since struggled to compete for a starting spot. This season, he made 15 league appearances, all as a substitute. Eventually, Moura decided to seek a new challenge. His contract with the Spurs was set to expire this summer, and he left as a free agent.

When Moura announced his departure, Son Heung-min said, “Moura was a friend who made me feel a lot of things during the years we played together. He’s a very sincere guy, a very bright guy, and his biggest strength is that he’s always positive. I’m so grateful to have trained and played with him. I will always support Moura in his future.”

The first goal in the league this season. Coincidentally, Moura also reached the 20-goal milestone in his sixth season in the EPL in a Tottenham shirt. 20 goals and 15 assists in 152 league games. Now, Moura is leaving Tottenham to pursue new challenges.
