K-Sisters head to LPGA Match Play, what are their groupings?
Eight South Korean players, including defending champion Ji-Hee Ji, will compete for Match Queen at the Bank of Hope Match Play, the only match-play event on the U.S. Women’s Professional Golf (LPGA) Tour.
The tournament will be held at the par-72 메이저놀이터 Shadowcreek Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, for five days starting on July 25. The tournament, now in its third year, will feature 64 players in 16 groups of four, with the top player in each group advancing to the round of 16. The tournament will then play a single-elimination tournament to determine the winner.
The groupings were finalized based on the world rankings released this week. Ji-hee, who is looking to win her second consecutive title, will compete in Group 8 with Lynn Grant (Sweden – World No. 22), Matilda Kastren (Finland – World No. 111) and Maddie Jerich (Canada – World No. 197) for the top spot. In last year’s tournament, Ji-hee went 2-1 in the group stage, topping her group and reaching the round of 16.
Kim will be joined by Kim Se-young, Lee Jeong-six, Hong Ye-eun, An Anna-lin, Shin Ji-eun, Hae-ran Hae, and Kim Ah-rim.
Kim is in Group 13 with Cheyenne Knight (USA – ranked 44th in the world), Sarah Kemp (Australia – ranked 134th in the world), and Pei-Yun Chien (Chinese Taipei – ranked 174th in the world). Lee Jung-six and Hong Ye-eun will compete in Group 2 with Brooke Henderson (Canada – World No. 8) and Sophia Schubert (USA – World No. 88), while An Na-lin and Shin Ji-eun will play in Group 7 with Riona Maguire (Ireland – World No. 19) and Linea Strom (Sweden – World No. 207).
