Los Angeles Olympic women’s basketball silver medalist Kim Young-hee dies
Kim Young-hee, who led the heyday of Korean women’s basketball, passed away on the 31st of last month. She is 60 years old.
Her late father was a representative center of Korean women’s basketball, who was active in Soongui Girls’ High School, Korea Cosmetics. The deceased took the lead in winning the silver medal at the 1984 LA Olympics with her 2m tall height. At the time of her death, she was awarded the Medal of Honor for Physical Education, including the White Horse and Tiger Badges.
She passed away in 1987 after she collapsed during training and was diagnosed with Acromegaly and left her coat. Afterwards, she suffered from complications such as brain tumor, hypoglycemia and thyroid disease, and intestinal obstruction, and she was known to have been living in a nursing home until recently. Her funeral is in a special room at Daniel Funeral Hall in Bucheon, and her funeral is at 8:30 am on the 4th.
