“Quick motion 0 point range, operation is not easy” Admiral highly praised, LG high school rookie is unusual
LG Twins high school rookie Park Myeong-geun (19) is leaving a strong impression in the demonstration game following the spring camp.
Park Myeong-geun, who graduated from Raon High School, wore the LG uniform with the 27th overall ranking in the 3rd round. He is 174 cm tall, but the highest speed is a side arm that reaches 150 km. He was the only rookie to be named to the first-team spring camp roster, and he made a mark in the command tower with good form.
In particular, he recorded a scoreless inning in a practice game against the LA Dodgers and played an active role with a fastball of up to 146 km.
His performance continued in the demonstration game 메이저놀이터.
On the 15th, Park Myung-geun became the second pitcher after starter Kim Yoo-young in the Daegu Samsung match. He only allowed one hit in 2⅔ innings and sealed the Samsung batting line with no runs. He recorded two strikeouts.
Park Myeong-geun, who appeared in a crisis situation with 1st company and 2nd base, also showed off his crisis management skills. He induced Pirella with a fly ball, but an error by second baseman Seo Geon-chang created a crisis with 1 company, 1st and 3rd base. He allowed Oh Jae-il a sacrifice fly to left field, but ended the inning by stopping Pirella’s stealing of second base based on an excellent slide step (quick motion). After that, in the 3rd and 4th innings, he neatly blocked it with 1 hit, 2 strikeouts and no runs.
LG coach Yeom Gyeong-yeop said, “He is a pitcher who throws his own ball. The biggest advantage is that he can put his ball into the strike zone under any circumstances.” He said he had high expectations.
One of Park’s greatest strengths is his quick slide step. He drew attention from the moment he joined. When there is a runner, 1.1 seconds come out, and when throwing a fastball, it comes down to 1 second. Because of this, it is possible to keep runners in check even though it is a sidearm.
He is also wary of enemy generals. Samsung coach Park Jin-man said, “(Because the slide step is fast), it is not easy to operate from the point of view of the opposing team. It is too fast. One second does not come out. Bonnie has lost her sense of the breaking ball, but she has good pitches and speed, and she will become a good player in the long run.”
Park Myeong-geun is competing with Kang Hyo-jong and Kim Yu-yeong for the 5th starting pitcher. If he gets a passing grade as a relief pitcher, he will be tested as a starter next time. Expectations are gathering for Park Myung-geun’s appearance on the starting mound.
