Jamsil Stadium on the 2nd. Hanwha had lost eight games in a row after a 10-0 drubbing by LG the day before. Needing to end the losing streak, young home run hitter Noh Si-hwan’s bat was on fire.
In the bottom of the first inning, Noh, who batted third, faced LG starter Kim Yun-sik. After watching a 144-kilometer fastball in the first inning, he swung at a 143-kilometer fastball in the second inning.
The ball hit the center of the bat and directly hit the outfield fence of Jamsil Stadium, the widest in Korea. After the ball hit the fence, Noh ran to second base and performed a ceremony in the dugout to keep his spirits up.
After warming up with a long hit in his first at-bat, Noh set the record straight in his third at-bat. After watching a slider in the first at-bat against reliever LG Yoo Young-chan, he swung at a 148-kilometer fastball in the second, just as he did in his first at-bat. He followed the same course, sending the ball to left-center field for a two-run shot that sailed over the fence. His 30-homer season included a distance of 120 meters, a bat speed of 159 kilometers and a launch angle of 27 degrees.
The Hanwha Eagles welcomed their 30-homer hitter, Noh Si-hwan, with great enthusiasm.
After going seven games without a home run since his 29-homer game against KT on May 19, Noh Si-hwan broke the nine-homer mark in two weeks, marking the birth of a 30-homer hitter.
His Hanwha teammates cheered him on as he became the first home run hitter under the age of 23 in 20 years since Kim Tae-gyun. After hitting his 30th home run, Noh smiled and posed for a picture with Lee Jin-young, who was holding a camera, as he entered the dugout.
